APPROVED! OSHR APARTMENTS

After 3 long years at council, backwards and forwards our Old South Head Road Apartment building, (designed with Hill Thalis) has been approved by Waverley Council. Construction is to start in August. Documentation is to start immediately.

The building has 21 apartments, all with dual aspect, all with living areas and terraces facing towards north. The concrete frame is to be an off form finish.  Glazing and Vitra Panel infill sit within it. The gentle radius of the facade and radial plan is setout by the road alignment of the street below, above which the apartments overlook, some to the city, others to the beach.

Llankelly Place Lights

Very exciting to see the lights being refurbished after so much (necessary), time spent monitoring  investigating, reporting, tendering and so on. The lights appear all to be working and looking “radiant” as intended. Soon to return to their lane way.

Public Space projects range from new squares, to re-modeled Parks, Squares and Street upgrades, are a synthesis of artistic and design ideas that bring a greater meaning and sense of place to the project. Projects, such as Jacaranda Square at Sydney Olympic Park, the Parramatta Station wall and Sam Fiszman Park at Bondi’s Ben Buckler demonstrate the practice’s commitment to a collaborative design approach, synthesising art, architecture and urban design in the creation of urban artefacts.

Apartment building projects are a careful balance between maximising the private interests of the Developer with the public planning framework. MWA believes Apartment buildings, well designed, can make a great contribution to the urbanity of the city.
