The house is set near the base of a long hillside backing onto the national park and is planned to sit within an existing opening of trees to minimise its impact and take advantage of the forest-like setting. The front elevation is laid out within a series of four double-height brick piers, two steel columns, and a double-order door, all of which visually connect the house to the tall tree-trunks that frame the view from the street.
The side elevation shows how the front two-storey volume becomes a series of stepped single levels at the rear. A single sloping roof covers the house from back to front, with a single pop-up over the dining/living volume. Inside, the finishes are a restrained palette of recycled timber and white walls that frame various views to the adjacent tree canopy.
