Immigration Place

A “Place” is made in the space, contained by tree lines, aligned to Kings Avenue and symbolically connected to the world through the orientation to true north. Lines radiate from the heart of the place – the indigenous foundation – to the points of migrant origins, marking place, time and the global diaspora. The ovoid formed roof, cantilevers northwards into the place, in alignment with the symbolic centre while the surrounding trees provide spatial containment for the Place. The symbolic and celebratory elements sit within a rich ground plane - a pavement of stones from all states within a meadow garden of diverse bush landscapes.
