Land and Housing Corporation
This proposal for 44 affordable apartments was awarded by Land and Housing Corporation following a competitive design process. The building is arranged in two parts, interconnected by entry and access galleries. A 50/50 mix of one- and two-bedroom apartments is accommodated over 4-5 storeys. The sloping topography is terraced to create a ‘community garden’ for residents, overlooking the street from the site’s north-west corner.
Access galleries are generous and include seating to encourage social interaction and a sense of place for residents. Durable and low-maintenance materials are used - robust face brickwork, galvanised steel, profiled Colorbond cladding with polychrome Vitrapanel highlights. Construction is due to commence in late 2019.
