The central idea of the Parrametre is that it encapsulates and records the tidal movement and the history of flood levels along the river, as well the ever changing diurnal tidal levels. The design of the Parrametre has been carefully considered as finer vertical element that stands in contrast to, the strong horizontal form of the Gaswork bridge. Flood levels are marked up the height of the tower. The 2.5 metre top element is aligned to the Gasworks Bridge and thus it can broadcast the tidal levels to the passing pedestrian and cars.
