Winner, 2000 National AIA Landscape Architecture Award, China Town Lights

This project marks the place of Chinese settlement and activity within the Haymarket setting. Through lighting, the key ideas of place, street definition, night-life and theatre are expressed. Urban design and Feng Shui principles established a framework for the layout, form and colour. 3 light types were developed, screens across the north south streets, box lanterns on the smaller east west streets and the iconic heaven lantern at the intersection of Dixon and Little Hay Street.
